Lost in Space

Psalm 37:39-40 (The Message)

The spacious, free life is from God.  It is also protected and safe.
God strengthened, we're delivered from evil -- when we run to him, He saves us.

It is confession time.  I don't like to do this but sometimes it is just a necessary element in sharing ones heart.  I have a problem with cramped spaces.  They don't annoy me.  They don't frustrate me.  They scare me beyond my ability to describe to you what happens in my body and mind when I am faced with being cramped up, no matter what the circumstance.  Small room; we are dealing with a nervous and anxious Mark.  Too hot, too stuffy, bad time for Mark.  It is the kind of fear and anxiety that grows inside until it can't be contained anymore and someone, somehow, has got to move or let me move so I can calm my heart and still my mind.  I know it sounds goofy but you should just be thankful it is my problem and not yours.  I don't like the small cramped places.  My heart is blessed by spaciousness.  My life is calmer, happier and much more bearable if I have room to breathe, move, and not feel cramped.  Elevators, the back seat of cars, and packed out rooms are the enemy and I do all I can to avoid them all.  You may have a great deal of sympathy for me or you might just be calling me a big sissy but it doesn't change my condition; I am drawn to spaciousness.  I decided to confess this because I think it is worth the humiliation to make my point.

I love the spaciousness of God!  I love that his spacious grace is free and unending.  I love that his spaciousness is without repentance and removed from the possibility of being lost because of my stupidity and ignorance.  It is pure joy to participate in the munificence of God.

Romans 5:20-21 (NIV)
The law was added so that the trespass might increase, but where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

You could say that sin is finite, God's grace is infinite.  Such spaciousness is the source of great joy that brings powerful strength even in the face of dark and tedious trial.  The qualifier is that this gift is from God.  This is not earned, deserved or fabricated by our works or sacrifice; this is a pure gift from God our Father.  Bless his holy name!!!

This is a gift with a potent insurance policy, it is protected and safe.  When God makes that kind o guarantee, we can rest in our salvation with perfect peace.  God will not fail.  His grace is beyond measure.  Spacious; I love it.  Our strength comes from God and his perfect gift of grace; signed, sealed, delivered I'm yours.  Wow!  That would make a great song.
